My name is Luis Peña and I'm starting my Graduate school career this fall. Im from washington heights and am originally from the Dominican Republic. I love anything that has to deal with spanish. As an undergraduate i majored in History and Latino studies. I love to read and that is what you can catch me doing on my free time. I love the idea of becoming a teacher, but i bet that one of more than one of these ideas might change when i actually become a teacher. Im not scared of the prospect of being in the front of the classroom and i hope that by the end of this class i can find more than new way to incorporate technology into my classroom. and below is a little bit of my love hate relationship with technology Mostly love though so don't get scared guys.
I found the NETS for teachers to be a very useful tool especially for me, since I hope to one day become a teacher who is able to meld and use different tools especially tools that involve technology. The best part about the Nets was that it allowed me to set goals that I hope to attain.
Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
I want to be able to use technology in my classroom to increase awareness with my students about world issues occurring in the real world and that have an impact on them.
Design and Develop Digital Age Learning Experiences and Assessments
I want to allow students in my classroom to have an opportunity to use technology to help them answer exit tickets, and to use other technologies beside power points for projects. Like Animoto – which helps students incorporate video video-slideshows into their presentations.
Keep track of new technologies that come up and find ways to incorporate them into my lessons so that my students can learn about these technologies and hopefully incorporate them into their daily lives.
Promote Model Digital Citizenship and responsibility
Lead by example in this field by always citing and following copy right and intellectual property rules, and also show my students these rules so that they avoid troubles and learn how to be conscientious technology users.
Engage in professional growth and leadership
Introduce new technologies that could be used by my fellow co-workers in their classrooms in order to engage in professional growth not only for my own growth and gain but also for the growth of my coworkers and that of the whole school community.
